The newly constructed Snapdragon Stadium posed a unique challenge in integrating speakers seamlessly without compromising the venue’s aesthetics. The stadium, resembling a professional facility rather than a collegiate one, hosts diverse events such as athletics, concerts, conferences, and more. To address the need for inconspicuous yet high-quality speakers, audio and video design firm WJHW partnered with Clair Global Integration and turned to Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW), specifically deploying over 100 AC6 ADAPTive Column Loudspeakers.
The Egret Stadium has an inverted U shape, with tall stands in the east and west sides and low stands in the north and south. The height of the steel structure exceeds 85 meters, and the maximum span of the structure is 350 meters. The stadium can accommodate 60,592 people as a football stadium. When switching to athletic mode, the platform is lowered to the field and the stands move back to make room for the tracks. This format can accommodate more than 53,443 people. So far, the Egret Stadium has successfully hosted the 2023 World Athletics Diamond League Xiamen Meeting and the group stage of the Asian zone of the women’s football qualifying tournament for the Paris Olympics.
The historic Brooklyn Tabernacle updates it’s sound system for the 10,000 visitors in attendance each week.
The EAW ADAPTive system was specifically chosen for the ability to keep sound energy off the vaulted ceilings while maintaining a high trim height. By adjusting the vertical coverage, the ANNA array was able to hang high enough to avoid blocking the stain glass window.
